Course Overview

The Safe Controls of Operations, or SCO Gas Training course, Module 5: FOA  is designed for all gas industry individuals who are involved in the operational works and minor works on the Gas Networks and Meter Installations. Designed for individuals who are or will become named competent persons for either: Permits to Work, Forms of Authority and Routine Operations.

The SCO FoA scheme intends to train individuals within the gas network, to understand the gas networks’ safety procedures and duties. The SCO gas certification training can be completed with sessions run with Karlson Utilities Limited online or face-to-face

 

The SCO training programme has been devised for those new to SCO while also offering renewal training for those with exiting and current EUSR SCO registrations, near to expiry. All modules between the initial SCO training course and the SCO renewal training are the same but are shorter, refresher courses with assessment.

EUSR SCO initial registration and re-registration are awarded upon the completion of the SCO training and successful assessment.

 

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:

  • State the purpose of a Form of Authority and when this type of control should be used
  • Identify and analyse the key information requirements of an FoA
  • State the relevant process, roles and responsibilities for personnel involved in the preparation and management of an FoA
  • Identify specific FoA requirements for communication, handover, records management, attendance on site, conflict checking and dealing with deviations and emergencies

Course Duration

The course will take place over the course of 4 hours, 2.5 hours being the training delivery time along with 1.5 hours of assessment time. The assessment format will be a multiple choice question paper along with an assessment auditing an FoA exercise.  Individuals must have completed Module 1: SCO Core module before completing Module 5: FoA. A maximum number of 8 participants can attend this training course
